// Fresh Graduate Strategy — April 2026

What gets you hired and paid more,
in each market

Based on real salary data. Assumes: IT degree, JLPT N3, data engineering basics, commercial project experience.

Bottom line: Japan is your highest-leverage move — but it requires N2 (or very strong N3) and 6–12 months of preparation. Indonesia is the easiest entry but lowest ceiling. Remote work pays well but is very hard to land as a fresh grad with no visible portfolio. The right order: Indonesia → Japan → Remote/upgrade.

Your 4 priority actions right now
01
Push to JLPT N2
N3 gets you considered in Japan. N2 gets you hired. The gap between them is the biggest single salary lever you have. One test, ~12 months of study from N3.
Unlocks Japan
02
Make 1–2 data projects visible
Your Puppeteer scraper, Jobstreet pipeline — these are real. Deploy them. Write a short README. Put them on GitHub. This is your resume in Indonesia and Japan both.
Immediate ROI
03
Target Japanese companies in Indonesia first
Companies like Astra, Honda, Toyota IT, or Japanese startups in Jakarta pay more AND value your Japanese. This is the fastest path to Rp 12–18jt as a fresh grad while saving for Japan.
Bridge Strategy
04
Add one cloud cert (free tier)
AWS Cloud Practitioner or Google Associate Cloud Engineer. Takes 1–3 months. Adds credibility on a resume. Required by most mid-to-large tech companies in ID and Japan.
Low effort, high signal
